So I'm in Vancouver, BC at Seagate's WorldWide Sales Meeting. Been here since Friday, I'm flying home on Tuesday AM. Parni's in Seattle (well, on the way home now) and Max is at home in Portland with my Mom, who was flown in for the occasion.
I have some pictures, but they're on my cell phone and I can't email them to myself until I get back in the States.
Steve and I went down to English Bay for the big fireworks competition last night. It's a big, multi-day thing involving several countries. Last night was Sweden. Canada went last Wednesday and I think tomorrow night or Tuesday is China, which would be something to see. The real incredible thing though was the amount of people. They estimate that over 400,000 people head down to Stanley Park each night. Virtually all of the roads in that part of downtown are closed.
Both Steve and I have been in Times Square for big events, and the the Thanksgiving Day parade in NYC, but neither of us have ever seen the sheer mass of people that we were in last night. It was unbelievable. We walked down after dinner and camped out on the grass, lit up some Cubanos and talked for like an hour. The whole time there was a SOLID stream of people walking past us. The streets were full of people walking in a continuous stream the whole time we were down there.
Did I mention the Hari Krishnas?
More later.
